  • Assist with preparations and setup for programmes, which may include doing recce for site visits.

Social Media Marketing for Chefs With Heart programme

Chefs with Heart is about Empowerment, Employment and Entertainment. Singapore’s Food and Beverage industry have long depended heavily on foreign labour. With recent government restrictions many food establishments and local restaurants are now facing a shortage of chefs and manpower. Chefs With Heart is a culinary training program for youths from challenging socio-economic background, who are able to be the solution for this manpower shortage.


Job responsibilities:

  • Attended training sessions and interacted with the participants during the actual program which ran from 29th Jul to 30th Sep 2013.
  • Captured pictures when necessary.
  • Contributed to the program discussion process.

Green Future Solutions

Greenstore is Singapore’s first review and rating guide for green consumers. Greenstore aims to curate, review and rate green, eco, sustainable, organic, and ethical products and services that benefit individuals, the environment and the community.


Intern Responsibilities:

  • Liaised with product suppliers to know more about their products and met up with reviewers.
  • Assessed products based on the Green Rating.
  • Wrote up product reviews.

Key Highlight:

Prepared for the inaugural The Green Singapore Sale which happened between 22nd June and 22nd July 2012. This includes helping out for interview sessions with selected companies.

ECO Singapore

ECO Singapore’s mission is to challenge youth of age 17-35 to adopt a sustainable lifestyle and embrace environmental issues holistically, to drive local and global environmental initiatives, to support environmental activities and initiatives as a resource platform involving other environmental stakeholders.

  • Created Facebook content, Updating Twitter, and Blogging pre and post event reports.
  • Planned events for community outreach targeted at youth audience.

Events Organised and Participated in:

  • 28th Apr 2012: Co-organised a public talk “A Better World? Lessons from the ECOsystem.” This was put together with the Singapore chapter of The Zeitgeist Movement.
  • 22nd Apr 2012: Organised the Singapore screening of the global documentary “One Day on Earth.” For the opening act, we had Randolf Arriola, Singapore’s finest and most innovative guitarists in the past 20 years, and a leading exponent of live looping as a musical technique to perform.
  • 12-14th Mar 2012: Participated in the ‘Youth Environment Envoy Programme’ (Run 20) organised by the National Environment Agency.
  • 17th Feb 2012: Organised a public talk “A Triple Bill Special on Green Development” cum networking event for British Council Korea’s ‘Korean Youth Climate Change Ambassadors’ and participants of The Study of the United States Institute for Student Leaders on Global Environmental Issues (SUSI). Speakers included Professor Michael Quah, Professor, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Deputy Director, NUS Energy Office, Tan Hang Chong, Nature Society Singapore and Jeevaneswaran Ramoo, Chairman at World Leadership Conference 2011.
  • 13-17th Feb 2012: Coordinated British Council Korea’s ‘Korean Youth Climate Change Ambassadors’ visit to Singapore. The sites we visited included the Semakau Landfill, Standard Chartered Building in Changi Business Park, Dunearn Secondary School, Marina Barrage, a session by the National Climate Change Secretariat, an NParks Educational Tour at Singapore Botanic Gardens, a cultural heritage tour at Little India.
  • 3rd-4th Feb 2012: Organised a community outreach programme for “Dunk-IT! @ Chingay.”
  • 23rd Nov 2011: Organised a public talk “Illegal Wildlife Trade.” The speaker was Simon Purser, Programme Manager at Tasikoki Wildlife Rescue & Education Centre in North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia.
  • 17th Nov 2011: Organised a public talk on “Human Orangutan Conflict Resolution in Sumatra, Indonesia.” The speaker was Panut Hadisiswoyo, the Principal Conservationist & Founding Director of Orangutan Information Centre (OIC).
  • 3rd Nov 2011: Organised a public talk on “Waste.” Speakers included Mr Alan Yeap, Chief Executive Office, New Quantum Holdings, Mr Eugene Tay, Founder and Director, Green Future Solutions, Mr Tang Eng Sang, Senior Manager, Waste Minimisation & Recycling Section (WMRS), Waste & Resource Management (WMRD), National Environment Agency (NEA), and Mr James Boey, Deputy Director at Singex Venues, Project Manager for WasteMet Asia

Basic Conversational Malay Instructor and Relief Teacher

Schools have been encouraged to offer Conversational Chinese and Malay (CCM) to their students since 2005. This is for the purpose of strengthening bonds among students of different races; at the same time helping them acquire the languages that would enable them to operate comfortably in the region.

  • Taught Basic Conversational Malay to students on an Ad-Hoc basis to classes of 10- 20 students.
